Veteran Students

Oakland University is proud to support veteran students with financial resources and services to ensure higher education is accessible and affordable. We’re devoted to providing an environment that helps veterans, service members and family members achieve their academic and personal best, including investing in higher education.

Veterans Aid

All veteran students qualify for in-state tuition rates.

To take advantage of financial assistance, you should always complete the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available for the upcoming school year. Learn more about applying for financial assistance to make the process seamless.

OU students who are members of the National Guard are eligible to apply for the OU Michigan Army and Air National Guard Award. Once the application and all other certification documents have been received, we will notify recipients of the award.

Additionally, the Michigan National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program provides tuition assistance to members of the Michigan National Guard attending any public, private, university, vocational school, technical school, or trade school located in Michigan, including Oakland University. Please review the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act for more information.

Oakland University provides the College Financing Plan available in MySail under the financial aid menu. Additionally, the following websites provide consumer financial tools to help make decisions about higher education:

College Navigator provides information about a school’s tuition and fees, retention and graduation rates, use of financial aid, student loan default rates, and more. Oakland University reviews its student loan default rates on a yearly basis. In the event that OU's cohort default rate rises above the national average, OU will disclose the rise above the national average on the Financial Aid and Scholarships webpage.
